Prerequisites: Ensure you have SAP SuccessFactors admin rights (access to Admin Center and Digital Adoption settings) and a valid WalkMe enterprise account (GUID) with Editor access. You may also need the “Company System and Logo Settings” permission in SF to enable integrations. Install the WalkMe Editor (a desktop app; use Firefox to log in) on the content-builders’ machines.
Enable SAP-Managed WalkMe Content (Optional): SAP SuccessFactors now provides built-in WalkMe tours (no separate license) across modules. In Admin Center, use Action Search to find Configure Digital Adoption Platforms, toggle Enable WalkMe, and select “SAP SuccessFactors-Managed Content” . This activates SAP’s pre-built tours for users.
Integration Methods
WalkMe can be delivered into SuccessFactors two ways:
- Script-Based (Snippet) Integration: For SuccessFactors H1 2023 or later, WalkMe is an approved vendor for script injection . In Admin Center > Script-Based Integration Settings, click Add Vendor, enter walkme as the Vendor ID, and add it . In the WalkMe integration dialog, choose the environment (Test or Production) and paste your WalkMe account GUID (with the correct data-center prefix, e.g. US-ENV or EU-ENV…).
- Finally, turn on the Enable WalkMe Integration toggle and save . This injects the WalkMe script into all SF pages for your users.
- Browser Extension (Legacy) Deployment: Older setups use the WalkMe browser extension to inject content. Mass-deployment of the extension to all SF users is recommended (using your software distribution system) so users don’t have to install it manually . Your WalkMe Account Manager provides a deployment guide for each OS/browser. If needed, you can also add a custom “Activate WalkMe” tile on the SF home page that contains an iframe linking to the WalkMe extension download . Once the extension is installed and enabled, published WalkMe content will appear in the UI.
Building WalkMe Content
With the integration enabled, content creators use the WalkMe Editor to build guidance. In the Editor, create Smart Walk-Thrus – interactive, step-by-step guided tours. In the WalkMe Editor these appear as a map of icons (blue balloons for steps, orange for flow logic) . Each “Step” is a tip balloon anchored to a page element, instructing the user (e.g. “Click this button”, “Enter data here”) and waits for the trigger (click, text entry) to proceed . Flow Steps let you split or loop logic. Author your Walk-Thrus by capturing elements on the SuccessFactors pages in the Editor’s capture mode. Configure each step’s instructions, triggers, and appearance, then publish your changes. When published, these Smart Walk-Thrus (and any Launchers or menus you add) are delivered into SuccessFactors via the enabled integration (snippet or extension) and will display to end-users in-app.
Multi-Module Deployment
WalkMe works uniformly across all SF modules (Recruiting, Onboarding, Employee Central, etc.). There is no separate installation per module – once enabled, WalkMe content will load on any SuccessFactors page. However, when designing guides, target the specific module’s pages and elements. For example, build Recruiting-specific tours by anchoring steps to Recruiting UI elements, and similarly for Onboarding or other modules. Use WalkMe’s targeting/segmentation features (scoping by URL, user role, or group) to ensure content only appears in the intended module or for the right users. Test your Walk-Thrus in a sandbox SF environment first, then promote to production.
Testing and Rollout
After configuration, verify in a test SF account that WalkMe content loads correctly. Check that the WalkMe widget (Player Menu icon) appears and that your sample Smart Walk-Thrus launch as expected on the target pages. When satisfied, notify your users and go live. Monitor usage in the WalkMe Insights dashboard to refine content.
