SAP SuccessFactors certification just changed — read this before you book

What’s Changing in SAP Certification : From Theory to Prove-by-Doing

Here’s the thing — SAP just reimagined certification to reward real skill, not memorization. What this really means is you can prove you can do the work, stay current, and show it with a verifiable badge.

Rollout & Impact:

💎 Initial Rollout: The new practical, performance-based exams are starting their initial rollout now (November 2025).

💎 Who's Impacted First: This new format is initially required for first-time certification takers.

💎 Existing Certifications: If you're already certified, there's no immediate change. You'll continue your regular "stay-certified" renewal cycle for now.

💎 Phased Approach: This new format will be phased in across all SAP certifications over the coming months.

Format:

🔹 Practical, Hands-on Exams: Starting in November 2025, new exams will mirror real-world tasks like configuring SAP systems, building processes, and coding.

🔹 AI-Enabled Testing: Exams will incorporate AI support tools, such as SAP Joule for Consultants.

🔹 "Open Book" Format: You'll be able to leverage resources during the exam, just as you would on an actual project.

🔹 New Assessment Types: Get ready for system-based simulations and scenario-based role-playing with AI avatars to solve complex problems.

Initial certifications (from Nov 2025):

• Solution Architect - SAP BTP

• SAP Generative AI Developer

• SAP Build Developer

• SAP Business Data Cloud

• SAP BTP Administrator

• RISE with SAP Methodology …

👉 More certifications phase in from Jan 2026.

What are your thoughts on this new, hands-on approach to SAP certification?
