Configuring MDF Screen IDs for the Latest People Profile Full View

The transition to the latest People Profile experience represents a significant shift in how employee data is consolidated and managed. As of the 1H 2026 release, this experience is universal and cannot be disabled, making the correct configuration of Metadata Framework (MDF) components essential for data integrity. The Full Profile serves as the single point of truth where employees, managers, and HR administrators interact with complex data sets.

MDF Screen ID Requirements in Full Profile

In the latest People Profile, the rendering of custom data blocks relies heavily on the precise mapping of MDF UI definitions. For custom MDF objects to display correctly within the Full Profile, administrators must verify the MDF Screen ID and Default Screen settings. These identifiers ensure that the system calls the correct UI layout when a user navigates to a specific category or card within the profile.

When these IDs are misconfigured or left as default without proper mapping, users may encounter issues where data appears empty or the block fails to load. The Full Profile architecture uses these Screen IDs to differentiate between various UI formats, including those used for standard categories and custom-defined blocks.

Consolidated Data Management

The Full Profile is designed to consolidate all types of employee data into a single interface. This consolidation includes standard Employee Central information, such as compensation and payment details, alongside custom MDF blocks. Because the Full Profile enables various roles to modify data and understand the implications of those changes, the underlying MDF UI must be robust enough to support both viewing and editing modes.

Architects should note that the visibility of these blocks is also governed by Role-Based Permissions (RBP) and the specific category IDs assigned during configuration. If a custom MDF block is not visible, the validation should start with the Screen ID mapping followed by the target population settings in RBP.

Administrator Implications and Validation

For SAP SuccessFactors administrators, the move to a universal profile experience requires a proactive audit of all custom MDF UIs. Validation should focus on the following technical areas:

  • Screen ID Consistency: Ensure that the MDF Screen ID used in the Profile configuration matches the UI defined in the Manage Configuration UI tool.
  • Default Screen Settings: Verify if a "Default Screen" is required for the object to render in the Full Profile context, especially when multiple UIs exist for the same object.
  • Category Mapping: Confirm that custom blocks are assigned to the correct Category ID to ensure they appear in the intended section of the Full Profile.

Failure to align these technical identifiers can result in "internal server errors" or blocks that display "There's nothing to show yet," even when data exists in the database. As this interface is now the standard for all users, maintaining these mappings is critical for operational continuity.
